What is palais de glace?

Palais de Glace (Ice Palace) is a historic venue located in Recoleta, Buenos Aires, Argentina. It was inaugurated in 1911 as an ice-skating rink and also functioned as a cultural and sports center. The building was designed by architect Eduardo Rodríguez Ortega in French neoclassical style.

The Palais de Glace hosted various exhibitions, concerts, and cultural events. It became an important art gallery and hosted exhibitions of renowned artists such as Pablo Picasso, Diego Rivera, and Frida Kahlo.

During the 1950s, the Palais de Glace was used as a television studio and was one of the first stations in the country to broadcast live programs. In the 1980s, the building was restored, and its original features were preserved.

Today, Palais de Glace is a cultural center that offers exhibitions, concerts, conferences, and workshops. It also hosts the prestigious National Salon of Fine Arts, which is a major annual art exhibition. The building is considered a cultural heritage site in Buenos Aires and has become a popular tourist attraction.
